The women’s semifinals are set. Here’s our preview and predictions!

Swiatek vs. Podoroska

The women’s draw is a complete mess. As such, we’re now looking at two completely unknown women playing on one half of the draw. Podoroska is the 23-year-old Argentine qualifier that sent Svitolina packing, while Swiatek is the 19-year-old upstart who may very well win this whole thing. Swiatek has shown a wonderful enthusiasm for the game as she’s torn through this draw with ease, punishing Simona Halep, the number one seed, along the way. Podoroska’s French Open dream run will end here. Swiatek is too good and seems to be playing better with each match that goes on. Swiatek wins in two.

(7) Kvitova vs. (4) Kenin

Theoretically, the winner of this should take the French Open crown given the inexperience and ranking of the other two semifinalists. However, nothing has been status quo in this French Open, especially on the women’s side. Regardless, both these women have been playing like the Grand Slam champions that they are. This match should be as exciting as they come. Both these ladies are shot makers and as solid as they come from the baseline. It will be interesting to see how Kenin handles Kvitova’s power.

Kvitova has the ability to blow anyone off the court, and if Kenin doesn’t show up with her shot making toolkit this will be quick work for Kvitova. That being said, Kanin will have a chance if she absorbs the power and opens the court up. She’ll look to make Kvitova run and miss. That will be a tough proposition given how well Kvitova is hitting the ball. Kvitova will win in two.
