French Open 2020 Predictions – Women’s Final

The women’s final is set. Here’s our preview and prediction for this exciting final!

(4) Kenin vs Swiatek

Youth and scrappiness will be all over this final, in addition to steady and cerebral shot making. Predicting this match is difficult because neither of these players were favorites to be in the final. Additionally, Kenin was bounced by Azarenka 0-6, 0-6 at the Italian Open a couple of weeks ago. Given that result, would anyone have thought that Kenin would be in the final here? Well, here she is. And so is Swiatek, whom is now the pundit favorite to take this crown. Don’t count Kenin out though, as she is the one with grand slam winning experience and a “never die” attitude.

Against Kvitova, Kenin showed poise and was able to cool her nerves. She played smart, yet aggressive when she needed, making few mistakes. She was able to neutralize Kvitova and play the big points really well. She will need all that and more as she takes on Swiatek, who seems to be flying on the red clay. It’s tough to see Kenin getting past the polish teenager. Especially after seeing how easily she beat the best clay court player in the world, Simona Halep. Swiatek hits a heavy top spin ball that will give Kenin a lot of trouble during their match. Kenin will need to shrink the court otherwise she’s toast. I don’t see Kenin doing that. Swiatek is looking too good on this red clay. Swiatek will win her first grand slam in straight sets.
