French Open 2020 Predictions – Men’s Final

The men’s final is set. Here’s our preview and prediction for this exciting final!

(1) Djokovic vs (2) Nadal

The final everyone wanted and expected is upon us. Djokovic and Nadal will play for the French Open crown on Sunday. Nadal was flawless going into the final, while Djokovic had to endure a monumental comeback from Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals. Both men are playing sublime tennis. This should be a final for the ages, with GOAT implications. Nadal can tie Federer’s 20 Grand Slam record, while Novak can get closer by winning an 18th major.

Nadal came into this French Open with a lot of questions. However, he usually does, but then he usually wins the entire thing. Djokovic will definitely have his work cut out for him. Nadal’s dislike of the weather and the balls seem to be a thing of the past. As he breezed through Schwartzman with ease, one got the sense that he’s just simply unbeatable at Roland Garros.

As good as Djokovic is looking on this surface, he’s just not as good as Nadal. As good as Djokovic has been playing this whole year, compiling an astonishing 38-1 record, it won’t be good enough to beat Nadal in the final. Nadal owns Philippe Chatrier, the court belongs to him, and it will belong to him for the 13th time, thereby tying Roger Federer’s feat of 20 Grand Slam titles.

All that being said, the weather may be a factor in favor of Djokovic. In these heavy conditions, Djokovic will have an advantage. Will that advantage be enough? I seriously doubt it. Nadal is on a date with destiny on Sunday. He will win his 13th French Open in straight sets.
