Stockholm Open Predictions – Final Points of the Season Up for Grabs

The last tournament of the season is here.

Sure, we have the ATP Finals, however, for those that are still trying to qualify and those that did not qualify, this is the last chance to get some important ranking points before the end of the season. Although there will be only 250 points available, some of these points may be the difference between ending the year in the top 20 or top 10. That’s why so many big names have committed to play.

The Stockholm Open counts with the following top 20 players: Zverev (4), Ruud (9), Hurkacz (10), Auger-Aliassime (12), Sinner (13), Schwartzman (14), Shapovalov (15), and Norrie (16).

Ruud, Hurkacz, Sinner, and Norrie are all looking for the last two qualifying spots for the ATP Finals. Those two spots are still very much up for grabs, and it looks like Stockholm may hold some valuable points for these players.

In addition to all these household names, Andy Murray will be looking to be a spoiler to the point accumulation of some of these players. Although Andy is ranked outside the top 100, he has been showing some signs of a resurgence lately, including notching his first top 10 wins over Hurkacz. Look for Andy to make some noise.

In terms of the rest of the field, it seems as though Zverev, Ruud, and Sinner have the best chance of lifting this title. All three players have won five tournaments each this year. They have been collecting titles with such consistency that it is hard to imagine anyone other than these three lifting the Stockholm title. Out of these three, it seems as though Sinner and Zverev are looking the best, especially in the last couple of months.

A Sinner vs. Zverev final would be an absolute treat. Zverev holds a 2-1 advantage in their head-to-head, winning their last encounter in straight sets at the US Open. Sinner seems like a slightly better player than two months ago. Will it be enough to get through the constancy Zverev brings to the table? Doubtful. Zverev should cruise to a sixth title for the season.
