The ATP tour ended with a bang this year, with Zverev shocking Medvedev at the ATP Finals to let the world know that it’s not just about Medvedev vs. Djokovic.

We are all very happy that’s the case because multiple rivalries at the top of the game are better than just one. However, it’s not just Zverev who’s in the mix at the top, Tsitsipas can also be included in this conversation. Hopefully, Tsitsipas will be healthy to start the season after elbow surgery.

In fact, one can argue that Djokovic, Medvedev, Zverev, and Tsitsipas now make up the new Big Four in tennis. For approximately ten years this was reserved for Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, and Murray. Of that great class of players, only Djokovic remains at the very top. 2022 promises more big titles for these four players. Aside from these four players, keep an eye out for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, two youngsters that will keep getting better and producing results as the year goes on. 2022 Australian Open

Novak Djokovic will pick up right where he left off – in the thick of it all. This is Novak’s favorite tournament and the one he owns the most titles at. He has nine titles down under and will be heavily favored to win. Nevertheless, this is a tournament where Medvedev, Tsitsipas, and Zverev have all had great results in. He’ll need to be at his best if he wants to reach 21 Grand Slams.

2022 French Open

Nadal is expected to come back for the Australian Open. I don’t expect much from him there. However, as the clay-court season gets going, and he gets more matches under his belt, Nadal will again be very dangerous on the red clay, and particularly at Roland Garros. Another player to look out for here will be Dominic Thiem. He’s also coming back from injury and has been the top clay court player after Nadal in the last few years.

2022 Wimbledon

With the absence of Federer and the rise of big-hitting youngsters, one gets the sense that it is finally time for a new Wimbledon champion. If the tournament belongs to the big hitters, then Matteo Berrettini and Jannick Sinner should have a great chance of lifting this trophy. Obviously, Djokovic will be a major factor given he has won the last two editions of this tournament.

2022 US Open

By the time we get to the US Open, defending champion Daniil Medvedev will be firing on all cylinders. He will probably have picked up a couple of big titles before descending onto New York. Medvedev will be tough to beat on these courts in September. If there’s anyone to take him on, it will have to be Zverev. A Zverev win at the US Open against Medvedev would be a fitting end and a chance of a blossoming rivalry with Medvedev.
