Is Nick Kyrgios wasting his talent? Tennis Great Greg Rusedski Chimes In. Maybe Call Agassi!

We all know how great Kyrgios can be. We saw it first hand in Acapulco this year. Since then, he’s been a bit of a malcontent during his matches, and it hasn’t been positive for him. He hasn’t gone deep in a draw since that great win at Acapulco. I attribute most of his lackluster results to the clay. However, he didn’t fare much better on the grass courts either. Granted he ran into an in form Berrettini at Stuttgart. And we did see him fight a rising Auger Aliassime in a tough round of 16 three set loss at Queens Club. I really wish he was winning these matches though, especially as he prepares for Wimbledon. And especially as a fan! I want to see more Kyrgios!

Lots of folks have taken notice and are again calling him out on whether he’s wasting his “Federer like” talent. Canadian Greg Rusedski is the latest to talk about Kyrgios wasting his talent. He stated that he likes Nick as a person outside the court but says that he needs someone to help him on the court and outside the court. Especially off the court, so that whenever he gets to a tournament he’s disciplined about his focus. For example, it has been stated that he stayed up eating burgers and chips and playing video games until 3am the night before one of his doubles matches at Queens Club.

It will be interesting to see if Kyrgios heeds the advice of the pundits out there. Tennis would be well served if he did. Everyone knows that when Kyrgios steps on the court, he can beat anyone. Everyone has also observed that sometimes, if it’s not a big name or a big court he’s on, he may not put 100% full effort. Maybe he should call Agassi! That would be fun to see.
