What a week for tennis at the Australian Open – especially American tennis! Last week I wrote about Americans making noise at the Australian Open. True to form, some of my predictions came true. I predicted that either Collins or Anisimova would break through into the fourth round. Both did, and then some. On the women’s side, a fearless Danielle Collins stunned and absolutely annihilated number two Angie Kerber in straight sets to reach the last eight, 6-0, 6-2, while Serena Williams muscled her way to a three-set win over pesky number one seed Simona Halep 6-4 in the third. On the men’s side, Frances Tiafoe keeps making his first run at a slam after beating Agassi coached 20 seed Grigor Dimitrov in four tough sets.

So, what’s next for our heroes? Frances will play number two seed Rafa Nadal, while Williams plays seventh seed Pliskova and Collins plays unseeded Pavlyuchenkova, who took care of Sloane Stephens in three tough sets. Out of these three matchups I expect to see both Collins and Williams in the semi-finals. And with the way both Collins and Williams are playing, it is entirely possible to see an all-American final come Sunday. Either way, it is my prediction that Williams will win her 24^th Grand Slam.

This is not the case with Frances Tiafoe, who gets an in-form Nadal in the quarters. Nadal has not dropped a set on his way to the quarters, and he’s played some decent opposition as well, beating de Minaur and Berdych in straight sets. I predict Tiafoe’s run will end with Nadal. However, you never know in the world of tennis. Also, let’s not forget about our other non-American youngsters in the quarters. Maybe this is the year youngsters all break through. You got Tsitsipas, Coric providing Tiafoe company in the quarters. Would it be that we’ll have a youngster win the title this year? Or will it be another year of either Nadal or Djokovic taking the title?
