I Still Love Wimbledon

Back in 2018 I wrote about my experience at Wimbledon in 2008, standing in the Queue for tickets, and my wife getting her beer knocked out of her hand by that year’s finalist Rainer Schuttler. I was reminded of the experience because after three years, the Queue is back!

And while I didn’t have to camp overnight for my ticket, I kind of wished I had. Apparently camping for a ticket can be an experience onto itself. Either way, for those of you that don’t know what the Queue is, I suggest getting up to speed with this short blog.

Bringing the Queue back means that Wimbledon is finally back to full capacity. As many can recall, last year it was 50% capacity, and the year before that it was cancelled all together.

Having the greatest tournament in the world at full capacity reminds us why this is such a great tournament, regardless of the current controversy regarding the banning of players from Belarus and Russia.

The fans, players, and media will congregate again for a wonderful spectacle of drama, sportsmanship, and excitement. And while this year I will again be watching from home, I can appreciate the roar of the crowd from the comfort of my own home. It’s obvious the players feed and gain inspiration from the fans, making the tennis all that much more enjoyable.

So, crack open a beer with your cool Antique Wooden Racquet Bottle Opener, sit back and watch the all the wonderful action at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.
