Official Flex League Rules

How To Join A TennisPAL Flex League.

  1. Download the TennisPAL app
  2. Join a local league. Pick your city and register. Flex Leagues are organized in multiple seasons per year.
  3. You’ll be placed in a group with 5-10 competitive players. Schedule matches in the app during the Play Period.
  4. Submit match scores in the TennisPAL app to log results and rank in your group. Your best 6 matches are counted in your ranking.
  5. The top 4 players join the playoffs to determine a champion.

Below are TennisPAL Flex League official rules. Please read these carefully.

At TennisPAL, we strive to create a competitive and fair environment for all players. To ensure consistency in match reporting, all matches played for TennisPAL Flex Leagues must follow these official match play rules.

1.  Code of Conduct

TennisPAL promotes fair play, honesty, and sportsmanship. All Flex League players must:

2. Match Format

Best of 3 sets, traditional scoring.
For official reporting in TennisPAL, at least one full set must be completed for a match to be verified.

Players can agree to play No-Ad Scoring, where the next point after Deuce wins the game.

5. Tiebreak Rules

The decision to play a 10-point Tiebreak has to be made before the start of the match and both parties have to agree. If the opponent is not in agreement, you should play a regular 3rd set. The 10-point tiebreaker will be reported as 1-0 to make it consistent with actual 3rd set result

6. Match Verification for TennisPAL

For a match to be officially recorded in TennisPAL:

  1. The match must be played using one of the standard formats.
  2. The final set score must be entered in the TennisPAL app.
  3. Both players must verify the match result within the app.

Scores are always entered with your score listed first.

Only the following set scores are valid entries:
6-0, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5, 1-0 and 0-6, 1-6, 2-6, 4-6, 5-7, 0-1

7. Earning Points

Players receive points based on the set scores of your match.

Point Calculations:
The Winning Player Receives:
12 points for a 3 set win
14 points for a 2 set win

The Losing Player Receives:
One point for each game won in their “two highest scoring sets”.
A losing player can receive up to a maximum of 8 points per match.

Example match score: 6-4, 6-2
winner receives 14 points
loser receives 6 points

Example match score: 6-2, 4-6, 7-5
winner receives 12 points
loser receives 8 points

8. Playoffs

At the end of the season, there will be a single elimination playoff among the top 4 players.
Semifinals are played as Player #1 vs #4, and Player #2 vs #3. Players have 2 weeks to play the semifinal match.
Finals are played by the two winners of the Semifinals. Players have 2 weeks to play the final match.

In a tiebreak, serves alternate every two points after the first serve.
